The world’s best coffee and where to find it

As a real coffee junkie, I have tried coffee in many places around the world – especially when they have entitled themselves as „world’s best coffees“. Over the years I have probably drunk thousands of liters of coffee and would claim to have a pretty good overview of where the best coffee in the world is to be found.

Let me introduce you to the best cafés or coffees in the world.

COPENHAGEN (DENMARK): EMMERYS

I like the coffee from EMMERYS and although EMMERYS in Copenhagen doesn’t seem to be much more than a good bakery chain, their coffee and also the cinnamon rolls are heavenly – so good that I would fly back just for that. The coffee tastes warm, soft, and caramel-like and the industrial design of the shops does its part to ensure that you can enjoy the coffee in a great atmosphere.

NORD COAST ROASTERY

Hamburg, Germany

HAMBURG (GERMANY): NORTH COAST ROASTERY

As a native German, it is an honour for me to give the place of the second best coffee ever to a German roasting company: Nord Coast Roastery in Hamburg deserves this title. I love the café, located in an old Hamburg warehouse, raw brick walls, coffee bags everywhere and from the window you can look directly onto the Nikolaifleet…the coffee tastes phenomenal and is roasted there. You’ll finde also incredibly delicious waffles, poached eggs and avocado toast so that you can spend several hours here not only at coffee time but also for breakfast.

BERLIN (GERMANY): RÖSTSTÄTTE

It is an even greater honour for me to award third place to a Berlin roasting company. Röststätte Berlin serves excellent coffee and I love sitting outside the café in the summer, drinking coffee, reading a good book and letting the sun shine in my face. In winter, however, it is no less cozy, because the interior is similarly industrial as the Emmerys, but is completed by purple plush and invites you to linger. I actually always take the „Oat Flat White“ and have never been disappointed so far. By the way, the roasting house also offers barista training on weekends and it’s definitely on my list to attend here once (and buy one of the shiny chrome espresso machines afterwards 😉 You’ll be allowed to dream 😉

COMMON MAN COFFEE ROASTERS

Singapore

SINGAPORE: COMMON MAN COFFEE ROASTERS

Another highlight is definitely the coffee from my new home: Singapore. Although I’ve been negatively surprised by all coffees so far, especially those with milk, Common Man Coffee Roasters really are an exception. The coffee there is not only unbelievably tasty, it is also affordable by Singaporean standards. Moreover, one sits really great between palms and plants in the middle of Robertson Quay. Here you will find me quite often.

ORIGIN COFFEE ROASTERS

Cape Town, South Africa

CAPE TOWN (SOUTH AFRICA): ORIGIN COFFEE ROASTING

Cape Town not only surprised me as a coffee city, but also convinced me. The coffee there is super delicious and above all it is really cheap. I have tried countless cafés, but in my opinion the most delicious coffee was at Origin.
