Escape to Tiburon: Your Ultimate Bay Area Day Trip
If you’re staying local this weekend and have the travel bug, why not explore a charming destination just a stone’s throw away from San Francisco? Tiburon, a picturesque half-island, offers a delightful escape without the need for long travel times.
Getting There
Tiburon is conveniently accessible via a quick, 30-minute ferry ride from the San Francisco Ferry Terminal. The Golden Gate Ferry operates three-morning departures at 7:10 am, 8:55 am, and 10:55 am, with return trips from Tiburon in the afternoon at 1:15 pm, 4:05 pm, and 5:50 pm. The ferry ride itself is a treat, especially if you opt for a later departure when the fog has cleared, offering stunning views of San Francisco.

Brunch or Lunch
Upon arrival, head straight to Malibu Farm Tiburon for brunch or lunch. Their coffee and pizza are incredibly good, and the waterfront setting will instantly transport you into a holiday mood.
Exploring Tiburon
After your meal, take a leisurely stroll through Tiburon’s charming alleys. Discover quaint boutiques, delightful wine shops, and inviting delis. It’s the perfect place to pick up a unique souvenir. For those inclined towards nature, a quick ferry ride to Angel Island offers hiking and breathtaking scenery. Alternatively, you can simply relax in the sun and soak in the island life.
Dinner and Drinks
As the day winds down, I recommend dining at The Bungalow Kitchen. Located right next to Malibu Farm, it shares the same beautiful waterfront views but with a more upscale ambiance. Enjoy a delicious meal and drinks before catching the last ferry back to San Francisco at 6:35 pm.
Have you been to Tiburon? If not, this weekend is the perfect time to explore this hidden gem!
