My favorite Rooftop Bars in Singapore 2020 | Local Guide

Is there anything better than watching a sunset from a rooftop with a drink in your hand? Well, if you ask me, there isn’t. I enjoy a fun night out at one of Singapore’s many rooftop bars with their spectacular views of the popular skyline.

If you’re looking for an excellent spot to make sunset extra special, you should check out my top ten favorite rooftop bars in Singapore (especially now that bars are about to reopen!)

Vue

OUE Bayfront, 50 Collyer Quay Rooftop Level 19, 049321

I only tried the VUE just recently but was smashed by its great ambiance, the casual Scandinavian yet elegant decor, and the stunning view on the Marina Bay (including the world-famous hotel and the Singapore Flyer). The so-named “rooftop spritz bar” offers many variations of my favorite drink that will only cost you 14 SGD in happy hour, while you get the “Spritz of the month” for 12 SGD at every time. Great, huh?

To make things even better, the VUE serves delicious bar snacks right out of the high-rated restaurant. Think of juicy sliders and the sweet corn fritters, and thank me later!

CÉ LA VI

1 Bayfront Ave Marina Bay Sands Hotel Tower3, 018971

Whenever you are in Singapore, you won’t want to miss going on top of the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Usually, ticket prices for the SkyPark Observation Deck come at 26 SGD. But here’s the thing (and my little tip): If you have a reservation at the CÉ LA VI bar in tower 3, which is one level higher than the observation deck, you get the same view BUT a drink on top (literally). The eccentric booze comes with a price, though. However, right now, there is a 30 % discount on them. And if you fancy an exceptional dining experience up in the clouds, CÉ LA VI also offers contemporary Asian food, that I have tested and appreciated.

Potato Head

36 Keong Saik Rd., Singapore 089143

The Potato Head is a trendy bar among locals. Located on the roof of an iconic heritage building in Chinatown / Outram, the tropical rooftop bar offers views of the vibrant streets in the popular neighborhood. There are also two outlets in Hongkong and Bali, and all of them have a similarly eclectic and relaxed vibe with them. On the roof of the Singaporean’s branch, there is always a gentle breeze, and when the sun has set, there are lovely light bulbs that create a romantic and very chillaxed atmosphere.

In Singapore, the potato head cooperates with the alternative meat brand Three Buns, which is why you shouldn’t miss their famous burgers and sliders.

Oxwell & Co

5 Ann Siang Rd, Singapore 069688

We stumbled across Oxwell & Co during our look-and-see trip. Located on the top level of an old shop house right at the corner to Singapore’s buzzy Club Street, it is not known for the grandest views but for its cozy and intimate ambiance. Naked bulbs, a green telephone box, and drinks served in elegant Chinese porcelain say it all. Unfortunately, the rooftop only opens its doors after 6 pm and doesn’t offer much seating too, which is why the ambiance is rather familiar and charming. The bar is known for its excellent Gin selection, and I can recommend one of Hendrick’s Infused Teas that come in teacups or small bathtubs. Just be careful in case you are sensitive to caffeine, as the drinks will undoubtedly energize you (I speak from experience here.)

Loof

331 North Bridge Rd, #03-07 Odeon Towers Extension Rooftop, Singapore 188720

The Loof has been awarded as one of the best rooftop bars in Singapore a few times already. You don’t go to Loof for its magnificent views, though, but because of its charming atmosphere and the appealing prices during happy hour. Located in an urban garden atop Odeon Towers in Singapore’s CBD, the seating is very chill, and with the unbeatable price in happy hour, the Loof makes a perfect spot to meet friends for a cheeky after-work beer.

Mr. Stork

5 Fraser St, Level 39, Andaz 189354

Located on level 39 on top of Andaz Singapore, Mr. Stork offers an amazing 360-degree view of the city-state, including the world-famous Marina Bay Sands and the South Chinese Sea. The bar is very spacious and includes typical bar chairs at high tables as well as cute areas with teepee huts and tents, which can be rented in small groups for exceptional romance. However I would recommend to rather sit in the first row or walking around the spacious garden on the top and breathing in the stunning views of Singapore.

The Other Roof

28 Ann Siang Rd, Rooftop Bar, Singapore 069708

Located at the top of one of the historical shophouses near Ann Siang Hill, The Other Roof offers fancy and Instagrammable views – and drinks. The menu is elaborate and includes many detailed sketches and stories about the drinks, which in turn are relatively unspectacular. Nevertheless, The Other Roof is always worth a visit.

Southbridge

80 Boat Quay, Level 5, Rooftop 049868

If you are in Boat Quay, then you won’t want to miss Southbridge Bar at the river. The bar belongs to the ilLido group which is a grant for high-quality in food, drinks, and service. Southbridge Bar is known for its excellent oysters paired with drinks. This, and the outdoor terrace make it the perfect spot to enjoy the views of the river and the spectacular Soutbridge.

1-Altitude

1 Raffles Place, 048616, Singapore 048616

At 282 meters above sea level, there is the world’s highest alfresco bar, right in Singapore’s CBD. The 1-Altitude on the 63rd floor of One Raffles Place offers 360-degree panoramas and a unique club and bar feeling and atmosphere. The bar occupies 2 floors, including a dance floor which is currently closed. The decor is minimal but strange, as they grow trees on top of the building. Other than that, the seating options are rather club-style and not as comfortable as other bars in Singapore. There’s only a thin, shoulder-height glass panel separating you and the view. Usually, there is an entrance fee that includes on drink from a short selection of beers, and other drinks. Currently, the entrance fee is waived which I appreciate a lot, as otherwise, I would personally find the prices too high (despite the great view). There is also a selection of bar food coming right from Singapore’s popular Stellar restaurant.

Level 33

8 #33-01 Marina Boulevard Tower 1, Marina Bay Financial Centre, 018981

LeVeL 33 is the World’s Highest Urban Microbrewery that offers guests a unique dining experience and ambiance. The moment you leave the elevator at level 33 of Marina Bay Financial Centre, you will be welcomed by copper tanks and a spacious restaurant featuring breathtaking panoramic views of the Singapore skyline, as well as an open-air Terrace. For a first visit, I recommend ordering the tasting paddle to try their extensive selection of delectable beers, which is a fun yet costly experience (SGD 23.50++ for five beers 0,1 liters). I would probably not go to the LeVeL 33 because of their vast range of drinks, but would instead give their Raw Bar a try, which offers an array of seafood and oysters.
