The stunning Flowers Vineyards & Winery in Sonoma County
There’s this one winery that I’ve had bookmarked forever: Flowers Wine is practically a household name, and scrolling through its Instagram feed feels like flipping through the pages of a beautiful dream, especially if you’re envisioning a wine-country wedding. But when I finally got the chance to visit for a wine tasting, well, let’s just say my jaw hit the floor as soon as we arrived.
Flowers Vineyards & Winery has been sitting on my Instagram bookmarks forever. I am not intending to get married anytime soon, but I always thought when scrolling through their Instagram, that it would make the perfect location for a lovely envelope amidst vineyards and flowers. So, I knew it was a beautiful estate, and the name “Flowers” only added to a lush and opulent picture of the winery. Still, when I was recently invited to their House of Flowers for a Wine Tasting Experience, my jaw dropped when I entered the estate – it is THAT beautiful.
FLOWERS VINEYARDS & WINERY
Flowers Vineyards & Winery isn’t just a winery; it’s a complete sensory experience nestled in California’s picturesque wine country. Its architecture, crafted by Walker Warner, seamlessly blends rustic charm with contemporary elegance. From the moment you step onto the estate, it feels like stumbling upon a hidden treasure, a fairy tale brought to life.
The Architecture & Interior Design
The architecture, thanks to Walker Warner, is simply breathtaking, and the interior design feels straight out of a storybook with its abundance of flowers, vases, pictures, and wooden panels. There’s just so much to take in, yet it all adds to the experience without stealing the spotlight from the wine. That’s what I really love about thoughtful design—it knows how to enhance, not overshadow.
Walking into their tasting room, or as they lovingly call them, the “living room” and “dining room,” feels like being welcomed into a friend’s upscale country retreat. Walker Warner captures that feeling so well, describing it as the warmth of coming “home“.
Winemaking & Tasting Room Experience
Flowers wines are just as elegant, balanced, and fragrant as their name suggests. With a focus on the ‘far’ Sonoma Coast, they exclusively produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, two of my all-time favorite wine varietals. Their dedication to extreme viticulture and crafting wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyards perfectly aligns with their commitment to presenting a pure expression of their exceptional location.
We were invited to the Sonoma Coast Journey, which included three wines from the coast, one Chardonnay and two Pinots. The Chardonnay tasted exactly the way I love Chardonnays from the Sonoma Coast: a little saline, rich, and complex, but still fresh. Along with the wine, we were served some vegetables and nibbles. We were told that their vegetables come from the Jackson Estate, which is a winery that has been a staple for me for years, and everything tasted fresh and crisp. However, what stole the show were the mushroom cookies. At first, we thought a mushroom and a cookie sounded like a strange mix, but OMG! These cookies were so unique and yummy and the perfect match for the Pinot Noirs that were served at the same time.
VERENA’S VERDICT
Flowers Vineyards & Winery isn’t just about wine; it’s about creating unforgettable moments. Whether you’re strolling through the vineyards or indulging in a tasting, the experience is nothing short of magical. It’s the perfect setting for any occasion, from intimate gatherings to upscale dinner parties. And let’s not forget the weather and landscape, a feast for the senses in every season.
Occasion: As I said right from the beginning, Flowers Vineyards and Winery is the ideal place for an event or hosting an upscale dinner party or wine-tasting experience with your friends. It is also a place to enjoy the weather and the beauty of the landscape, provided you visit in season.
Who should I take: Friends who appreciate nature, extraordinary approach to wine, and upscale design and architecture.
